My Life
Posted by Jennifer on 31 Oct 2010
I am a multi-tasking work at home mother (WAHM) of six kids (don’t always multi-task successfully….I mean I always have to stop and think about how to spell success…two c’s and two s’s?). I have a thriving marriage – married to my best friend who is often like a big kid himself - and a wonderfully chaotic home with six added blessings (referring to my six children…I will introduce you to my beloved furry and feathered friends later).

- This family photo was taken 2 years ago…make that going on 4 years ago! includes everyone except our newest baby boy, er, tot.. pictured below
My blessings… I have a 16 year old 18 year old (time for update!) boy with special needs (he is legally deaf and blind, though he is a happy boy…and blind as he may be, he seems to be able to see me eating from clear across the room), a 13 year old 14 year old girl (going on 20….I mean who needs google when you have 13 year old girl?), 10 year old girl 11 year old girl (happy always smiling, and sometimes overly likeable), my very exuberant 7 year old boy 9 year old boy (exuberant defined: joyously unrestrained and enthusiastic… true that), my very cute and mostly sweet (well, she’s a little sweet n’ sour) 3 year old girl 4 year old girl, who has only recently shown her shadow *crazy* side (she can be extremely stubborn and demanding and though “terrible twos” never applied to her, I am thinking I should coin a new phrase applicable to age THREES), and our newest addition, my 3-month-old baby boy 21-month old (man, time flies!)…words can’t express how much love he’s brought to the entire family, and we count our blessings double time after a scary start in life for him…. And my husband, who is very humorous, fun to have around but let’s face it – many moms can relate – is kinda like a big kid himself. I mean the same things I have to constantly remind my kids about, I have to also remind him about…(“can you take the laundry down? Can you put your dirty glass dishwasher?…and what is this crap in the sink?” ETC). He thinks it’s funny to run around the house chasing the kids with plastic spiders (and clumps of moss which he convinces them are spiders)…I am downstairs and can hear fast footsteps overhead, screams, yells, and laughter.
I am truly blessed. I love my life. I love my children and my husband – complete for all the joys and challenges.
Just so you know…I was not referring to my blog nor my six children, nor my house for that matter – when I called myself a “work at home” mom – though they would all qualify I think. My husband and I manage a small flooring business from home. He and his brother do the floors, and I do all “the other stuff” …customer service, scheduling, accounting, etc. With the downturn of the economy, I am not quite as busy with that as I once was (mixed blessing as you can imagine).
You may be wondering, busy as I am….how on earth am I going to find time to blog about my life? I mean I am living it, and I am in high demand over here at my house. I barely have time to take a shower (and I need more than the accidental shower while changing baby’s diapers). While my husband truly believes I am a “super mom”, I know better. I know that I try. Of course we all want to be supermoms, all the time. That is what coined the phrase “supermomwannabe” – because we want the best for our children and our families…and there are those days where you feel like you just didn’t deliver the way you wanted to or should have. Still, we’re moms and we are super – simply because we’re doing it to the best of our ability, we’re doing it with pure love – we give of ourselves unselfishly. We devote our time, energy and efforts – with love. That is our main purpose. Granted, I don’t speak for all moms. And I finally decided that I do have enough stories, to share with the world of other moms and parents – stories that include humor, happiness, and sometimes frustration and confusion. I look forward to hearing from other parents… I hope to bring something fun, interesting, and enjoyable to read. Welcome to My Life!!

Hi Jennifer
I came across your birthing video my mistake when on youtube. I showed my two daughters – ages 16 and 21 (I also have two sons, 19 and 22). It was lovely to see such a comely birth today. It takes me back.
God helps us through all these things and we couldn’t do without him. We too have children that we love and care for all the time, and trust on God for all their needs.
Your blog is a very inspirational read and you would be a very, very busy Mum!
You look a lovely, happy family and God bless you for the years to come.
