Is it a daily dreaded question for busy moms?

WHAT’S FOR DINNER?!
That’s the daily question all parents face daily! Being that we all wannabe supermoms, of course we want to provide home cooked, nutritious meals for our families.
I was at the store the other day, and the friendly cashier started chatting with me, taking note of my new baby, my three year old, and my ten year old with me. She said, “I bet you girls love being big sisters….it’s going to be so much fun – you three growing up together…” Then, I had to mention, “well the other half is at home…I have two more boys and another girl at home.” Her eyes widened (I get that alot when I mention that I have 6 kids -…guess it’s not as common here in the post-birth-control-era, as it once was, to have a lot of children…). Then she said, “wow, I bet dinner is a challenge at your house!”
That got me thinking – because most of the time, it’s really not. Why not? I think my answer has to be the crock pot! I love that thing – the whole set it and forget it cooking. The cook works her spicy miracles in the morning (c’mon ladies….I am talking about miracles in the kitchen here…with paprika and stuff like that…get your minds out of the gutter), and then doesn’t have to really think about “what’s for dinner” for the rest of the day. And I’ve learned that many of our “dinner regulars” can also be thrown in the crockpot just the same – such as BBQ ribs. Spaghetti – used to be stove top only – not anymore. I threw a whole chicken in there last week, along with lots of seasoning, onion, garlic, and veggies. It’s no secret that crockpots make dinner easier, but some moms may limit themselves to crocking sauces and soups only… next time you put together your dinner, ask yourself if you can throw it all together in one big pot in advance…it may just work out to be easier and tastier!
