Any of you who follow my blog or know me, know that I had a baby boy about 6 months ago.  I chose to have a non-medicated natural childbirth (ouch!).   Unbeknownst to me, my husband caught my childbirth agony and labor pain on video.  It was all good clean footage (meaning he didn’t film any of my girl parts, and actually focused on my face for most of it…you can watch it- natural childbirth video along with my other videos on my youtube channel: jjandjake).  After our experience, he encouraged me to upload the video on youtube so that I could share it with my friends and family.  At the time, I felt so strange about doing so.  On one hand, I felt very strong and courageous because I accomplished what I set out to do;  because my body did a great job;  because I am a woman and I was in awe, again, of what we’re capable of.  On the other hand, the video caught me at my most vulnerable point;  at near breaking point…there were points in the video where I hardly recognized my own face, or the noises coming out of my mouth.  I went ahead and uploaded it, and shared it.  To our surprise, the video view count went crazy on youtube, and I started receiving comments, feedback, and questions from viewers.

I have six children, five of whom I have personally given birth to.  Of those experiences, I have had a c-section; which subsequently led to a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarian) on my next childbirth; two hospital births with epidurals (one epidural given as soon as possible; the next given at very late stage); and two non medicated natural hospital births on my most recent two deliveries.  Many expecting pregnant women have so many questions.  The interest in my childbirth video prompted me to put together a brief (and amatuer) video diary/ documentary sharing the differences I personally experienced, for those interested.
